About Our Church

Elmwood Avenue United Reformed Church is located in the Fairfield and Howley area of Warrington, approximately 2 miles from the town centre. We are a small, friendly and welcoming Christian community.

The United Reformed Church (URC) is a family of Christians, worshipping in the name of Jesus in about 1500 local churches. The URC was first formed in 1972 when English Presbyterians merged with English and Welsh Congregationalists. If you would like to learn more about the URC please visit the URC website.

In the past 18 months we are delighted to have welcomed our new Minister, Reverend Jenny Travis, who serves a joint pastorate of 4 churches in the Warrington area including Elmwood, St Johns (Wilderspool Causeway), Thomas Risley (Birchwood) and Lymm. More information about our pastorate can be found at the ‘URC Warrington Pastorate’ Facebook page.

It is exciting times in the life of our church as we have recently completed a brand new kitchen extension and look forward to starting up new community groups and activities to achieve our mission in our local area.

Our Mission Objectives

As a church our key mission objectives are:

  • • To join together in praise and worship
  • • To serve and care for others
  • • To teach people about Jesus
  • • To be a meeting place for friends
  • • To be a community resource
  • • To influence society
  • • To play our part in working for a fairer and safer world

As part of our mission we support a number of charities locally and more widely throughout the year. These include Christian Aid, Commitment for Life, The Warrington Foodbank and Amnesty International.
